In an effort to help 4-H and FFA families, the Washington County Fair Board is designating an area on the Fairgrounds for camping. These rules have been drafted to make it be successful so it may continue in future years. Please abide by the rules drafted so it may continue.

  1. Camping is only for active 4-H and FFA exhibitors and their families at the 2009 Fair.
  2. All campers/tents will be kept in designated area in SW corner of fairgrounds.  Use E. fairground entrance, follow road on S. side of track.
  3. No open campfires at any time.
  4. Each campsite must be registered individually.  No selling or sub-letting of campsite.  Names of all staying must be registered.
  5. Registration will be at the Extension office during regular Extension hours beginning  June 1st and will end July 13 at 4:30 or sooner if all available spots are filled.  There are a maximum of 38 camping spots.  Spots will be assigned in the order they are registered. Spots will be marked with name on a flag marking assigned spot.  Fee of $75.00 is to be paid at time of registration.
  6. Campers may arrive starting July 18th and must be in place by 8 p.m. July 19th
  7. One camper/trailer per campsite, may add a tent.
  8. Any camper improperly set or outside of the assigned spot will be removed at registered camper’s expense.
  9. One (1) car or pickup truck allowed per site.  No driving of vehicle in or out of campgrounds:
    *after 7 p.m. July 19th and before 6:30 a.m.the morning of the 20th
    *after 3 p.m.July 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and not before 6:30 a.m. the following mornings
  10. People are not to leave the designated campground area after 11:30 p.m. and before 5:00 a.m. unless there is an emergency
  11. Campers may be removed anytime Monday-Friday before 3 PM.  On Friday the 24th campers can be removed after the Demo Derby is over. All campers must be gone by Saturday noon the 25th unless board deems different due to weather.
  12. All vehicles in campground will be issued a parking pass to be shown at gate and displayed on vehicle dash when in campgrounds. While vehicle is in campground it will be parked inside the boundary of the assigned camping spot unless weather deems otherwise. It is not intended for vehicle be used to drive back and forth to barn area.
  13. If designated campground is deemed too wet vehicles will be required to park on bluegrass in designated area outside of camping area.
  14. No golf carts, 4 wheelers, gators, motorcycles, etc allowed in campground other then the authorized vehicle.
  15. The campgrounds will be policed by law officers and the night watchman.
  16. There may be no hookups of water or electrical for 2009.
  17. Generators may be used until 10:30 p.m. each evening.
  18. No drainage of water or sewage may be disposed of on the ground.
  19. No minors allowed to stay overnight in the campground without parent supervision.
  20. No consumption of alcohol by minors will be allowed.  Violation of this rule will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the Fair and the fairgrounds.  Check rules in 4-H handbook.
  21. Only registered people will be allowed in campsite between 10:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
  22. 5 MPH speed limit in the campground
  23. No excessive noise in campgrounds which will disturb others.
  24. Violation of any of these rules can be grounds for revocation of campground permits and immediate on-the-spot expulsion from the grounds for the remainder of the Fair-WITHOUT REFUND.
  25. The Washington County Fairboard, Washington, Iowa, reserves the right to remove anyone from the campgrounds for any undesirable reason.
  26. All people staying overnight in campground will be registered and be required to have a season pass.
  27. All trash will be cleaned up from the camping spot before leaving.
  28. The Washington County Fair Association and The Washington  County Fair Board is not responsible for any damages to campers and/or people staying or visiting in the campgrounds. The Fair Board reserves the right to make changes as deemed fit because of, but not limited to, weather conditions.
